They were. Chrysler used gray sealant to mate the halves together. I highly suggest using the same when you go to put them back together when you're done.

I used the right stuff.

PS

The "nice guys" who p&p'd my plenum left the slot for the divider in place. Jon, the guy who did that, also did not reseal the two halves back together. I had to fix all that later.

Did you use the correct gasket for the TB as they are different?( I think if you look up '00 or '01 3.8L caravan, Napa or Advance Auto should have pics so you can tell the diff if its a special order).

Also you can tell if the idle screw has been messed with before because It should have a cap/plug covering the adjusting torx screw if its not been messed with(because I had to remove that plug to adjust mine, I ended up drilling a small hole then put a screw in it, then used vise grips to yank it out).

From looking at a 46mm and a 58mm the pintle for the AIS was slightly different on mine(may not hurt though), I unscrewed the pintle carefully and swapped them or you could always splice the wires on the AIS if needed(middle wire is signal)

46 just doesnt work properly with 52 or 58mm because its vastly different in size...

I used this gasket: While we find your parts, please enter your ZIP Code at PartsAmerica.com I originally ordered one for a 99 T&C but was really for a 52mm and more expensive. This one at the top gets pretty thin.

I bought my 58mm from cindy at FWDperformance. the caps are still there for the adjustment screws.

I just got back from harbor freight, bought a 4 1/2" angle grinder for $8.99, then a pack of 10 varied sized discs for $6.99. Also picked up a air pressure regulator cause my compressor doesn't have one. So this will probably be me project for the rest of today, yay! Thanks all!

That's assuming I can get the damned thing apart It would NOT co-operate, and I didn't want to cause any damage to the various locations along the seam where I tried to pry it apart. Sooooo, it remains on the engine untouched at the moment.

as with the turbo cars you have to adjust your idle to match your engine. The 3.8 moves a lot more air, the adjustment for this with the AIS shut is to much for the 3.0. Unplug the AIS with a warm engine. Then adjust idle for 950 RPM with the idle screw, then plug in the AIS. This should be done when ever you change TBs or change something with the engine. Many turbo guys can't get there cars to idle right with a big cam and don't know how to adjust the idle. Like a carb the TB must be adjusted mechanically for warm idle. The AIS is not supposed to work unless the engine is cold or your running AC. If the 52mm TB AIS has too small of a plug, like when you add a 46mm AIS to a 52mm TB. They can bleed and cause a leak. Check the plug or plunger on the AIS's

Pull the brake booster vacuum hose off with the engine running. This will make the AIS close fully. Unplug the AIS then put the vacuum hose back on and adjust your idle.

Exactly. The 46 mm one is much smaller. If I recall correctly, I just used the AIS that came with the 52 mm TB, and I just changed the wires over to the new AIS connector plug. I think. It was two years ago or more, and I don't remember what I had for breakfast half the time.

Considering you have never done this swap I dont see any validity here and your last post in this section had to be deleted because it was bashing 3.0's.

Another problem with your advice is that the TPS voltage changes when you mess with the tb stop screw so you need to turn off the car and restart so it can "zero" out again.

I got all the ridges done and the top half center divider removed, wore the crap out of the 4 1/2" angle grinder and even had to replace the brushes for the motor before I finished, I started about 11am and finished around 3-4pm, I've had ringing in my ears for half the day now (8:12pm as I write this) so I caution the next person, USE EAR PROTECTION!!!.

As for the leak, I caused it, not tight enough for the throttle body to the gasket, also since I assembled it around 7am before work with rtv I slightly had the 2 halves miss aligned by about 2mm still allowing a tiny amount of air in at the throttle body. I have it assembled properly now and idling about 50-100rpm (normally 750rpm) higher than the 52mm TB, all of which is fine by me.

You do not have to set any screws, and you can swap over 52mm TB TPS/AIS with no problem just make sure you take the O ring with it.

As for what its done I haven't tested extensively yet, but seems ALOT better, now bring on the dang Grand Prix again

If you have 12vdc going to the motors, then that is last of the line, gotta replace your headlight motors, did your guy in cleveland have those?

You never did call me about the wing, probably busy, its all good!
