There was a loose wire on my fan. :P And then I just rewired it backwards because I wasnt paying attention so my fan is pushing air to the front of the car :P

That supposedly can keep your engine bay temps lower on some cars, though I guess doing it without flipping the fan round isn't very efficient.

Per the fan not coming on, he says it was "very hot" one persons "very hot" is anothers slightly warm, so we have no reference point. So "very hot" because it's halfway on the gauge?? very hot because the needle is actually in the red??? very hot because the needle is about halfway and the coolant is bubbling into the expansion tank??? or very hot because the needle is pegged and it's boiling steam into the expansion tank???

Lookin,

since you just looked it up, does the 3.0 use an ambient temp switch like vader suggests? Or no?
everything I have looks like Chryco did away with that when they stopped using ESA's. Thats what my diagram was showing...it wasn't a 3.0 diagram, just a diagram to show ECU involvement. My SC doesn't have that that temp switch, I remember my turismos and old omnis did.

I looked at your 3.0 diagrams and didn't see a temp switch, just the expected gauge sender and CTS.
That leads me to believe they didnt use a temp switch on that car.

Or am I confused?
Sorry guy I originally thought this was regarding a 2.2/2.5 not a 3.0 Mits V6! I also never said Anything about an ambient temp switch! I said check your fan temp switch @ ambient temperture and then check it @ 160-180degrees F. To ensure it is opening the circuit @ ambient(room) temp and closing @ 160-180! You are right that the ECU controls the 3.0 V6! Check you connector @ the CTS and relay for you may have to took some readings and wiggle your connectors to find that damaged wire or loose connection! But since it's a Mitsubishi it may be your ECU. You should be able to check the relay connector that the ECU is sending voltage to energize the relay coil! And that your have battery voltage @ the Relay connector!Have you tried energizing the relay to close it and turn on your fan?

I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth.
I know the little thinga-ma-jiggie you're talking about, usually clipped to the fan shroud or stuck on an end tank.
The FSM calls it an 'ambient temp switch' so thats the term I used in case carboyz was looking for it in a factory wiring diagram.
No hard feelings?

We're cool guy! I'm still thinking about your prblm, any luck yet! Have you check the chassis connector for the fan relay for any discrepancies?

I have the same problem. Thats why I use the switch to kick the fan on earlier. As stated earlier, there is no actual "Fan switch". The ECM trips the Relay to activate the fan. And I changed my fan for the largest one at my job and set it up "push" style in front of the Rad. I also have swapped grounds, added larger ones, and the problem still persists. When the fan is activated by the ecm, the idle bumps slightly and the volt meter twitches. And for clarification of "very hot" when the fan kicks on, it's just to the right of the 2/3 mark on the gauge. It doesn't cool off super quick either, and I have no mechanical cooling problems. It's done it for over 20K now and unless I add the module to activate at my preset, I'm going to use my switch.

If you guys can't get the ECU to trigger the fan relay, maybe the next best thing is to buy an adjustable temp switch and wire in a seperate relay/existing relay to control the fan @ a decent temperture. Check B&M, Perma Cool (p/n 18905),etc...You can probably cut the wire btwn the ECU and the fan relay and splice in the wire from the adjustable temp switch to trigger the existing fan relay @ your desired temp!
