Did you take the crank pulley off? That should give you enough room to pull it up and out of the transmission. I usually pull the motor and tranny at the same time if the motor has to come out. Nice lookin Daytona BTW, I wouldn't junk it over a little bit of rust.

so last night i started working on the daytona at like 11pm and finally cut the last bolt from the exhaust down pipe. then my dad saw that i had forgotten to remove a bolt all the way at the bottom of the trans, so i took it out. Finally the trans and motor came apart. The new problem is that the pulleys get in the way and that keeps me from moving on. So i gues its time to remove the crank shaft pulley. Im hopping to finally pull the engine out today...

Thanx to every body at Turbo Dodge and Turbo Mopar for all the help with out you guys i wouldve never been motivated to fix this car i was just gonna sell it when i broke the engine but because i didnt sell it i learned more about a car than i have ever imagined. plus i dont see many older mopar cars around south wast michigan besides all the ones Jason has. his got lots of them includding a few 2.2 DOHC R/Ts.

Good job I remember that feeling. 6 years ago I could barely change my oil, let alone pull an engine. Funny how things change...now my wife has to pull me away from my cars

So i last night i took all of the pulleys off and noticed that the two cam gears were right on with the markings on the heads but the Crank shaft one was'nt i pointed them out with some tools and white marks...Here is a picture...I wonder if this is why my engine Broke..please give me your input..

I also removed one of the heads and it looks like the engine was rebuilt at some time cause the gaskets were new it has a new water pump new timing belt the valves look like new. ill post those pics later..

Congratualtions! I'm gonna be taking my motor out this summer (hopefully) after we move, it's gonna be my first time doing it and it's even my first car lol. I doubt the timing being off would cause your engine to go kapuut though, based on your earlier posts, it seems like it was due to the beating you gave it lol. It's a non-interference engine so if it isn't timed right its more than likely just going to run like crap, not necessarily bust something up. Keep us updated.

If you're looking for a slight gain in performance you want the Diamante cams. If you wan't a proven came get these Crower Cams & Equipment - Camshaft Specification Card. I'm gonna be installing a set this Summer.

If you're just looking for a cam if you want to get them reground, I have an extra stock set. PM me if interested.

hey guys whats up.....so today i got some time to remove the oil pan so i can start checking the crank shaft...well.....all the little plate things i think berrings were scratched but when i got to piston #2 i checked it for movement and as soon as i grabed it, it was so loose that you could move it up, down, side to side with out effort. then when i removed the thing that connects the rod to the crank i found out it didnt have the two little metal plates in bettwee. I latter found chunks and bits of them in tha oil pan...hahahahah so it looks like im gonna have to get the crank fixed...****

sorry i dont know the proper terms for tha parts if you guys let me know the names ill use them..

Thanx for readding...

here are some pictures of my most resent work... as you can see i removed all the internals and found the problem. you can see how the berring was distroyed and the other one was in the oil pan.. I also pressure washed the block to remove all the nasty oil builup..and coolant buildup in the block...now you can see how nicely polished the cylinders are they look like mirrors.
