My v6 Drag Week build

I have wanted closed loop idle so I could have a fairly consistent idle speed regardless of load on the engine (ie. electrical load.) Then a secondary reason developed over the holidays, during the drive into work the idle speed slowed down at each intersection. I had to manually change the IAC step curve to avoid the engine stalling.

Spent some time today trying to understand why I couldn't get closed-loop idle speed control working. Turns out I had the IAC wired the opposite of what it should be (ie. As the engine warmed up, iac step counts increased.)

The algorithm assume that the IAC count decreases to reduce RPM. Switching the wires around and the IAC count direction agrees with the algorithm. Still need to tune PID in a little more, but I am happy so far.

Ok, hear is the flow data for a few different 6G heads. I should have ported data in a few days...

Really makes the flow #'s I had for the tibby 2.7 hybrid DOHC heads seem poor in comparison...

I need to get a 2.7L head to see how it does on my bench before we pass a verdict on it. Also worth noting is that "big" flow numbers does not mean big hp. There are other factors that important.

For example, the DOHC head in stock form has unstable flow at high lifts. You can see the impact in flow as it droops near .5". The instability is present much earlier as you can see by the comparison to the ported flow.

Indeed, flow != power. And since I only have info on one data point, it also means we don't know the whole story. I was a bit disappointed that it appeared the 2.7 head was asthmatic, but this is why your good at what you do. :-)

A couple months ago I found out that my Shadow qualified for a historic plate. And that in Indiana you can run a Year Of Manufacture plate. For Christmas, my darling daughter got me an '87 plate and today my wife took care of all the BMV paperwork. So now my car can wear a YOM plate!!

what are the stipulations on the historic plate ? i could probably get a "collector" plate for my wifes shadow. but if i got caught driving it to work they would make sure i never have insurance again.
hate trying to insure my diesel,daily,bike,turbo car,etc gets a little expensive

you'll have to look at your laws in your area. they differ from one place to another. the fact you live in canada means any of us US guys laws wont apply to you.

Right now I am rebuilding the suspension on the Spirit (aka my Drag Week back-up car or my second car if I can convince my wife to go and drive). The Shadow is next up for some suspension upgrades (coilovers and adjustable shocks and struts.)

In Indiana, there are no limitations for the Year Of Manufacture plate that I am aware of...

That is also true in Indiana, I was more talking about rules that limit when and how often you can drive it.
