I surely will. My motor just went. Somehow jumped the main pulley off the crank. Sooooooo..new motor time!

I don't know. I think the thrust bearing being gone worked the crankshaft in and out and worked on the main pully till it kicked it off. Not sure what exactly happened for positive yet.

Thats pretty crazy. Post pics when you get a chance. These motors are not known for endplay problems but i believe 87-88 models did have some kind of problem with the crank pulley coming off that was fixed for later years.

Yeah, I haven't gotten to deep into it yet, whether it sheered the bolts off or what, but when I pulled over to check the engine oil, the pulley was just flipping around on the end of the crank with the tension of the serpentine on it. Its just hmgin on there loose right now.vi gotta find a decent place to work on it and hopefully I can't just repair the lower end and the whole motor isn't ****ed lol i don't wanna put that money into it till I have a pair 3.0l

So, it's been a while since any update here. After careful examination of my motor. I think it actually snapped the end of ge crank off. Either that or it sheered the pully bolts off. Im gonna be sensing the car away to have the motor pulled and rebuilt and its gonna get ge Montero cam when this is done. My question now is on the megasquirt systems. I always had the classic v8s around my house and you know those motors didn't have much if any computer..so can anyone fill me in on the details of the system. And can i just put that on a stock motor?

A Montero cam is the same as what you have. If you are looking for performance, you are better off going with a regrind cam.

MS is nice, but there is some work to get it setup.

A piggy-back setup (Greddy e-Manage) is easier for "mild" tuning within the limits of the stock RPM range.

So far the most I've heard about is ms. I would like to have something that I can work with. Being as im completely new to computer tuning and all, easy will most likely be better, then again, I dont now how far I will go with this car. My actual desire for he car is as previously state in the thread to have a srt stomper. Or something close. The motor is gonna get swapped and the aspair motor built piece by piece. Eventually it will be a turbo'd 3.0 which I will come to you(kmperformance) for.

I have the ninety one v6. That being said, your guide said the low impedence injectors wouldn't be supported by the controller. What would be the best move on correcting the problem.

You can use the e-Manage to control a pair of extra injectors.

Better would be switching to a newer (ie. '92) ecu and underhood harness. You would need to do some splicing of the wiring harnesses to the body to make it work. I spliced a '93 controller and engine harness into my '91 Spirit, so it is very doable.

Not sure if anyone is still following this yet, update on the tona. Bought my motor to swap out. Actually took it to a votech I went to when I was in school. They are swapping the motors almost done. After I get the motor and car back I'll be able to figure our what happened to the blown motor. Picks to follow guys.
