Odd issues

So the acclaim has developed an odd issue and returned an old one.
#1 It dies when I put it in park unless I let it hit reverse before park.
#2 It cuts out at mid rpm/mid throttle to the point of stalling.

I have replaced the idle control valve, the tps, the map sensor, the o2 sensor, the temp sensor. It recently popped these sensors one by one.

I also checked the vacuum and all is normal there.
Threw an A/F on it and it runs a little rich. Right before it dies hitting park it goes super rich. When it stalls while driving it goes super lean before stalling.

I'm searching for the cause of this, thinking maybe my ecu is fried. Help???

Honestly, sounds like your air/fuel mixture is off (obviously) and my guess would be this. Your a/f mixture is different from park than it is drive (i think) so maybe your ecu is fried. You may be on the right track but that's just a guess...i dont really know lol.

It ran rich the whole drive to my wifes work except when it would cut out it would drop lean right before. I would have to drop it to the boards to get it to come out of it, then it would be fine for a mile or so, then start cutting out again. This just started this week after having the battery unhooked on saturday doing some welding. It ran great saturday night and most of sunday except one little cut out sunday night. i'm really stumped to tell you the truth. Check your connections, grounds, etc.

So, is it misfiring when you say it cuts out? Maybe your coil pack is giving you grief? Got good blue spark? How do your plugs look?
Have you tried changing the fuel filter? Air filter is clean?
No check engine light on?
I may be on the wrong track, but I like to check the basics.

No it is cutting fuel. I have excellent spark, plugs and wires are new, fuel pump and filter are less then 6 months old, air filter is new.
I had one cel saturday, code 14- MAP sensor voltage too low or too high.

I'm going to go through all the connections and clean and grease them and see how that goes.

i have bought new parts and they failed just a little while after i bought them i would double check your map and make sure it is still good

It turns out it was just a bad connection at the map sensor. I cleaned the connectors and gave them a little crimp and now all is well..........
well almost......
Still dies when I shift into park, but other then that it is running great.

Thought I had the park issue solved after flipping the throttle plate around the right way (I had to swap shafts for my kick-down linkage to work and the plate ended up in the wrong way).

Drove the car all day yesterday and all morning with no issues. I pull in the driveway after work today, throw it in park and it dies. I go to get my kids and it dies when I pull in the sitter's driveway, not in park.... I start it back up, finish pulling in and it dies when I hit park.

I had forgot to hook up a vacuum line when I replaced the coolant temp sensor and thought I had it licked with that sensor, because with the line unhooked it was running like new. Hook the line back up and it was back to dying.

Needless to say I'm getting quite frustrated. It seems like everytime I replace something it works great for a day or two then it's right back to crap.

Hook up a vacuum gauge and see if you got good steady vacuum when in park. Should be over 20psi of vacuum idling.
Does it idle choppy?
Have you tried spraying something around intake and plenum to check for leaks and around the vacuum lines.
What about cleaning out the TB and vacuum lines with some SeaFoam?
A vacuum gauge can tell you a lot about your motor and how its running. I got one in my Daytona.
I don't know these cars very good....so just throwing crap at you.
You still have the mid RPM drivability prob too?

i was reading somewhere ( last year i think) that replacing the idle air motor was the fix for this problem. i cleaned mine and that fixed the problem.

i dont know if you have figured this out yet but when you put the car in gear it raises the idle (for obvious reasons) so when it goes into park or neutral it lowers the idle. it might be lowering the idle to far.
