hi friends.

i have a problem with my 1992 chrysler saratoga (dodge spirit) 3.0!

i needed 3 used map sensors in nearly 8000 km and i don't know why they always get bad in such few kilometres.

i put a cold air intake in about 20000 km before the first problem - so the original air filter assembly has no cover and air gets directly to the filter that is located behind the front bumper with direct hose to the 3.8 throttle body.

could this be the problem? or has anyone an idea what causes the map problem?

thank you all for your ideas

adrian

Have you looked in the vac line to the MAP to see if it's clogged or is clogging every new sensor you get?

What symptoms appear when the Map goes bad?
What fault code?

hi

first problem: i drove about 50 km and turned car off. after about 1hour car didn't start again.

second problem: i drove about 13 km and turned car off. after 8 hours car didn't start again.

both i drove without problems until i turned off.

third problem: while waiting at traffic situation (stop and go) car went out without any symptoms. i started again and drove some metres and then engine was bucking and car stuttert but didn't stall and then check engine light went on.

only at the third problem i could get the codes:
12 (because of stalling and restart)
14 MAP out of range
21 O2 sensor??
55 (end of codes)

someone thaught about a broken wire or bad contact at the MAP but in all 3 problems i put an other MAP in and the car ran perfectly....

grml

thanks adrian

replace the O2 sensor. the engine not running right could be throwing off the MAP with a bad O2. replace both with NEW sensors. trust me you will be fine!!

Broken terminals in the connector are a common problem(my Son's car twice).
Remove the terminals from the connector and physically inspect or go to the JY and grab a couple of Map connectors w/pigtail.
