P-Body coilovers!

Ok boys, i havent contributed in quite some time! however, its time to get this show back on the road! I have personally made the plunge and just spent ~500$ buying springs sleeves yadda yadda... ive gathered a good deal of info over the years and with the recent help of knightmoves got a good jump start! im pretty much recreating what CSR racer did to his daytona, if any of you remember that? if you do not, then stay posted! there will be lots of pics coming on my build through this! when the parts get in... ill have pics with parts numbers, etc. i will be doing a step by step illistrated process of removal of old shit, installation of the new, and exact specs of every machined part that needs to be made with pricing! and if i can get a good deal on the machined parts.. like the rear spring perches and what not ill let you all know, incase someone wants to bundle! i will make this as simple and easy as possible for those who want to go this rout with coilovers. wish me luck boys!! here goes my $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

there is some one making them now days if your not 100% with the idea. Would be nice to find a cheaper method but Rich's setup isn't bad in cost though.

Interesting. I will be very interested to see what you come up with. In the next month or so I will be putting coilovers on my Shadow as well.

Does the $500 include shocks and struts or just the coilovers?

The 500$ is for the springs, everything to make the sleeves, the seats for the springs in the rear. Which I'm still waiting for quotes on to have made. I'm fabing the front up with stock struts first, and I'm still shopping around to find out what will be the best buy as far as a permanent aftermarket will be. Seeing as how we can't get konies anymore, anything we buy will have to be chopped up. And for the rear shocks I'm look at 8th gen civic shocks because they appear to be closest in design to ours that have a lot of aftermarket support.

You said you were doing somethig as well Ed? You've got anything narrowed down or is this still just an idea?

Neon Koni inserts for the struts. I was going to use an ebay SRT4 coilover conversion, but I just checked and the price doubled... Probably going to get my parts from Summit. Probably cost me a little more, but I will get what I want and not be left guessing on things like spring rate.

For the rear shocks, I leaning toward Rancho 9000XL for Dodge vans. ~$85/per and adjustable...

yeah i didnt even think about the koni inserts!! forgot all about those thing! thatll make everything really simple at that point. my rear setup is similar to the link you posted. alot like CS racer, is more or less what im basing mine off of. alot of good info on that link though! glad to know that exists!

Rancho RS999113. I have yet to try them, but the style looks right and the dimensions are ok. There may still be some mods to make them work, won't know until I try them.

I bought my Koni inserts from tirerack.com, I think if you do some searching you can find them for less.

The nice thing about the Ranchos is that the adjustment effects compression and rebound.

Very interested to see if/what needs to be modified. I need shocks for my P, and there doesn't seem to be a lot out there between stock replacements and Koni's.

Just had to use different metal inserts. I forget what the dimensions were, but they are the same as used for the QA1 shocks.
