Yeah, all the circuit city's I checked showed out of stock. But lot's of times if their in stock number falls below a certain number they list it as out of stock. The store I found them in showed them as out of stock also, as did all the other stores in the area. I just happened to walk in, to ask if there was anywhere else to get the speakers, and they had 3 sets of them.
Here's some additional pics. I thought I had taken more of the process, but I guess not.
Basic DIY for the speakers:
Basically to take the cover off the basket handle/rollbar pull the rubber strip out of the center and then you can use a thin/narrow screw driver and pop the white fasteners loose, see picture. Try turning the tip while under the fastener, otherwise you may scar the exterior molding.
I used a drill mounted hole saw, matched it to the size of the inside of the speaker cup, and placed the speaker cup on the inside of the molding in the center of the black square, 2 of them you can see from the inside of the roll bar cover that has the lighting. I drilled a pilot hold, using the speaker mounting cup to center the hole. Then turned the cover over and drilled the hole for the speaker cup from the under side of the molding. I also used a small file to smooth the edges and clean them up.
The sides have to come out to get to the rear speakers, you have to fold the seats up to get to the plastic fasteners that are behind the head rest bar where the rear seats folded down from. One is a pain in the (&(*& to get to...I popped it out with a long handled screw driver and didn't put it back. But you can see all the other plastic pop outs and bolts.
I ran the speaker wires in the same paths as the wiring for the stock lighting, but after getting below the window level I kept it tied off to other wiring already there. Used some electrical tape to hole in places and the wire is longer than needed, so I wrapped it up and tied it off to the support posts that hold the rear speakers in place. Yeah I could have cut it, but oh well I wanted to get done. Make sure to check your wire routing well, make sure it doesn't interfere with any moving objects!!
The seat belts come out. Here's a tip...re-fasten the bottom anchor bolt of the seat belt to the floor AFTER you have buckled up the seat belt and verified it is running straight and not twisted. This keeps you from finding out later that you twisted the seat belt and then having to take the bolt out again to straighten it....oh well someone had to learn it!
After you get the first one out, the other one is a breeze.
Peace,
T
