Hey guys. Help me! I have a Lebaron Turbo 1 2.5 and I just filled up today. 28.4 MPG. I didn't do the math wrong, and I filled the tank up all the way like I normally do. My normal gas mileage is right around 16.5 to 18 MPG.

I did do:
The right calculations (3 times)
Filled tank up all the way (Until it pretty much overflowed)
Used both trip meters to determine the distance was right and not in kms.
Replaced the air filter with a K & N
Changed oil to a new 10W 40 SAE instead of 10W 30.
Changed my driving habits to a less pedal heavy way.

Now, I knew that my gas mileage was going to go up, but 16.5 to 28? I think something is wrong with my car. I've never been able to get over 24 MPG with this thing, even with all freeway driving and now all of a sudden it's gone way up? I'm very confused.

Don't be it is common when you don't go so hard on your car it will go up more if you drop your highway speed 5-10 mile per hour

My 89 Daytona Shelby TII 2.2 gets 25mpg city. It's very possible you get 28.4mpg with the hotter weather we're having.

I've been getting 28 MPG in my Omni GLH Turbo. I pretty much only use it to deliver pizza.

I can hardly believe it considering it's got a '89 2.5L TI with over 200k miles, 3" exhaust, MP +20 injectors, and a stock SMEC from a turbo Shadow ES. I'm thinking the 3.05:1 final drive is really helping.

I get 28+ around town in my 2.5 Tona that's modded a bit. More if I can get the tune right.

I guess it's not to bad. I was just concerned since I had that huge jump. I'm so used to getting 200 miles on a 12.5 gallon tank, and now all of a sudden I get 230 miles on 5/8 of a tank.

manual or auto ?

my '89 2.5 TI 5-speed acclaim (with 170k) has gotten as much as 33.5 on the highway

and typically gets 28-30 in 'mixed' driving (not being aggressive)

you mustve had a seriously clogged air filter !!

Better driving habits can effect gas mileage more than most people realize. Try inflating the back tires to like 45 and the front tires to 40 or so and see what that does as well.

A413 + driving it easier = BIG JUMP IN MILEAGE.

My van runs 2800rpms at 60mph. I drive mostly highway. I usually gain 2-3mpg by driving 55 instead of 60.

I have a 1991 Ford Exploder, With almost 300,000 miles on it.

Figure this one out, It has a 5 speed 4.0 V6 and its a 4x4

I can reliably get 24 MPG out of it ALL DAY LONG.

It boggles my mind, that it does so good.

Our Spirit R/T gave me a best of 39.2, and 37ish many of times. With my wife driving it most of the time it still sees 32-35 mpg.
