I sold my 89 T1 mini to a friend. 1 day later the camshaft broke in two, it was probably my fault (Timing belt too tight) so Im going to fix it.

Which model/year cars will have direct replacement cams? Im searching yards tomorrow and need to know what to look for...

or...

I have a spare, but it has a little surface rust on it. I don't think its too bad beyond that. Would this be ok to use with a little emery cloth loving? 800-1200 grit?

Your spare cam should be fine, I was dumb last year and left my head half apart throughout the winter, and my cam got some surface rust, especially where it was touching the sliders. I used some WD-40 and a rag and cleaned most of the rust off, then slapped it back in, works fine. Its a S60 cam though so i'm expecting it to wear out real quick, so I'm not sure if that will have an effect on the long term.
