i have swore off turbo dodges, could stand em any more. now what have i found, i was looking for a beater. i found a 87 dodge omni 5 speed. NA. and its rust free, now i also have a very low milage common block out of my acclaim that blew a HG. now my question is:

can i take the complete harness out of my acclaim and use it in the omni?

im not worried about guages working, just the 2.5 t1 motor running right. i dont see why it would be a problem. i would be useing the entire harness and computer set-up out of the acclaim. anybody know if that would work?

i wasnt too far off from TD's. i was/am building a 98 neon. i like the extra cam and 8 valves. it was going turbo this winter, but a completly gutted omni would be faster... uhhoh, i have a complete dohc neon head sitting min my shop to. this could be trouble.

anybody know what size spline the 87 omni's have in the hubs? could i swap in my 555 and still have the axles work?

Just get the wiring diagrams for both cars and years you are working on.....Is the Acclaim Turbo?.If not go with a 90 and up SBEC setup...One computer and a whole lot less wires......On the L body you just have to find the pinouts at the bulkhead and match them accordingly, Sometimes as in my situation the colors were very close..... Then run your wire to the pinout on the dash for the power loss light and a fuse holder for the fuel pump.....I did my 84 carbed Turismo to 90 Svec TBI and will never look back If you need more help with it feel free to ask....

Just my 2 cents

not positive but I think 87 L-bodys had the small spline setup.
What year 555 and what is it out of?

Ya the outer splines stayed small until 90 I think in the L bodys...Just the inner on the tranny got beefier around late 86 on the L's

wow....
the inner splines only got bigger in 88 and this was only on the automatics
the manuals never got big spline because they always had the 525 tranny
i honestly dont believe the outer spline ever changed
