I recently put a 2.5T1 into a 88Z. When I go to start the car the fuel pump runs but the starter will not spin. I put the key to run and short the starter and it sits and runs. What item would most likely be the culprit. Ive checked the wiring and grounds. I swapped out relays from running cars. Could the ignition switch itself cause this. What would be good to check before I replace the ignition switch.

since you did the work and now it doesn't work, it seems that you are not getting power to the starter. so you culprit is either your assembly is faulty or for some reason power is not getting to the starter. it could be the wire, the connection, relay, some other wiring, the switch or the short circuit between the steering wheel and the seat.
