I don't like those quick disconnects at all. It's unneeded technology, and nothing but another place for fuel leaks to start. One lousy little O ring inside is all that seals it!

What was so bad about regular hose fittings and clamps like the 1970's Mopars? I can't think of anything bad about them.

As was stated earlier in the thread, the old clamps cut up the hose instead of clamping the hose. Too easy to overtighten them. Too easy to undertighten them. And the old clamps cut the hose and leaked with what, about 7 psi behind them on a carb system. I remember, cause I was there in the 70's. So we take a flawed technology and stick it into a system with up to 100+ psi potential. I don't know, it might work. Just wouldn't bet the garage on it. 911 on the speed dial?
The proper FI clamps provide more even pressure around the fitting and work equally well on carb low pressure fuel systems. That said, even the new style clamps are more suceptable to the hose shrinking under the clamp over time and starting a leak than that "little" o-ring.
As for the little o-ring, what do you think seals the injector into the rail and the manifold? Or the lines at the rail, or the regulator to the rail? Etc. Do they leak. Occasionally. But compared to the old worm style clamps, no contest. The quick disconnects make filter changes so much quicker and don't require any tools to do the job. Bonus. Sometimes we just have to let the old ways go and embrace the new technologies for what they are. Faster, easier and repeatable results. A good thing. Yes?

So far... on my little rust bucket Z, I've replaced every line from the engine, back to the gas tank.. and now guess what, I'm putting a gas tank in this weekend, because it too is leaking. Its funny because I would put a new hose on, and turn the key over to purge the line, and the next section of rubber hose would leak. Right after the filter, going to the engine, I had to replace 3 feet of the metal line because it was literally falling apart and leaking. I used 10,000psi rated racing hose, and stainless steel line. I also used 2 high pressure fuel injection hose clamps on every end of every hose just to be on the safe side. A new tank is 98 bucks at autozone.
