I bought a 1988 dodge shadow as a non runner project car, fixed the timing, replaced injectors. Previous owner had timing out, and it appears as though he has changed the camshaft and replaced the head. Also lifted are now sliders instead of the original rollers. Vaccum lines were a mess but it appears as though they're are going to where they are supposed to go.

Car now starts every time and runs well at high rpms. At a low idle it seems to chug through the intake. I suspect the valves dont seem to be closing. And i am suspecting the cause is possibly wrong cam, lifters, and possibly wrong lash adjusters.

Any ideas that could help?

lifters are the same on all 8Vs IIRC. Is the cam a slider or roller? Some of the details are vague(atleast to me).

because the previous owner mentioned he put in a new cam and rockers too because the stock ones are rollers correct? and he included them and old cam but it has some wear

the block and head ended up being cracked so we're replacing it with a 2.5 with a 16v 2.4 dohc head and some more performance goodies to try and get her over 300hp
