I have just bought my first car. it is a 1989 dodge daytona shelby 2.2 turbo. it has 129k miles and was running great untill a massive ammount of smoke began to poor out of the exaust pipe. my first thought was headgasket but I did a compression check and all pistons had the same pressure plus the car still performed great all the way to the shop even though smoke is pooring out. I am in a jam...I think that something is up with the oil in the turbo but I don't know. please help...

well welcome to TD's and is it blue smoke? if so its probly the turbo seals. or rings but from what you stated makes it sounds like there in good shape.

the smoke comming out is a blue-ish color. when I ran the compression check I had 94 psi in all 4 pistons which should mean that my head gasket is ok. I am planing to do the work myself with some help from a machanic friend I just don't have the tools. thanks for the replyz

Sounds to me like the turbo is on its way out
Did you hold it to WOT when you did that compression test? It seems a little low. 125 to 150 would be more like it. At least they are all the same

94 psi is too low. Are you sure your compression guage was accurate.
