there is a 99 neon rt doch 5 speed for sale locally that is wrecked, andi have an 89 tbi auto horizon.

the NA 2.0 dohc sounds like a fun swap (wiring doesnt scare me) but i cannot find any info searching here on if anyone has used a neon 5 speed!


is it a possible swap? grinding and welding required? Links?

Hmm, I need that tranny if it has low miles on it, they are quite hard to find (different final drive and 5th gear than normal neon trannys). It is possible to do the swap, but yes the mounts will require work.

Anything is possible with a welder and an imagination. Check out the 16v conversion area where people have done whole SRT swaps. Should be a similar deal.

I don't have any specific Neon experience with I have heard that the Neon shifter setup is nearly the same and as a Turbo Dodge cable shift setup. I'm nearly positive you could just mount the shifter from the neon in your Horizon and use the Neon shifter cables. I don't know about clutches though. That may create a problem. I don't know if a Neon clutch is hydraulic or cable operated.

its on pdx craigslist under parts listed at $700
