you probably got stagnant water inside your HVAC box. without an outside air filter you'll get spores and mold to collect in the water. after a while it'll start to stink. this is mostly known in vehicles with working A/C systems. newer vehicles have in-cabin air filters to help combat this.
but for people like us, a simple way to take care of this is to make sure your water drain spout isn't plugged up. if it is stilll stanky, grab some pinesol or anything that kills odors and/or germs like febreeze and spray it into the intake while the fan is on full blast.
the blower motor and fan is located just behind the glove box. as you will probably find out your glove box will have to come out.
