Ok I have an 85 daytona all a/c parts have been replaced hoses, compressor, evaporator everything I think...didn't do the work but mechanic did about 4 years ago and car has been driven rarely since. Anyway number 1 problem is when I put on the gas while in gear the air automatically goes from the panel to the floor whether I'm moving or not...next thing is the air just doesn't seem too cold I had the freon recharged today it still uses r-12 and maybe it's just too hot outside (94 degrees) The car was sitting still and got down to 57 Is this good? I just know driving newer cars around here I seem to feel a lot cooler than in my car.

Boost gauge ? is whats wrong with the stock gauge I've heard its inaccurate but is it the gauge or the line that goes to it? aka could I just hook up my after market gauge to the stock line?

Make sure there is a check valve on the vac line to the hvac and double check for vac leaks that year is notorious for vac problems.
57 degrees dont sound too bad for sitting still, but theres a lot that can effect the system like wether it was properly evacuated before it was charged or is the heat control valve working so that hot water isnt circulating into the car.
The factory boost gauge is kinda crappy ive had one that was dead on one that was 3 pounds off and a couple of them that were within a pound or two so the odds arent too good of being accurate.
The vac line from the stock boost gauge can be used just fine as long as you dont find any leaks, normally you would hear some hissing in the car thats hard to miss.
