Car is now making clicking noise when you let the clutch out in reverse...

88 Shelby Z, 5 speed, never heard this sound before. Put it in reverse, and as I was letting the clutch out I heard a kinda loud "Click"
Stopped, tried again, same thing, it only does it once usually and its when the clutch is starting to engage. Doesnt matter how fast or slow I let the clutch out, or how much gas I give it, though if I let it out REALLL slow with no gas it seems to be quiet. Doesn't do this in forward gears, its never done this before. I'm new to turbo dodge's and FWD cars, so I'm curious if this is something I need to worry about or what it might be? Thanks,
-Chris

i would start by checking motor mounts and making sure the motor is not loose. could be torquing and moving.

+1 on the mounts. The front one just loves to come loose on these things. If its mounts the reason it does it in reverse and not forward is you are putting two totally different loads on the drivetrain. Good luck

happened to me with my 87 there are plastic spacers between the shift points they wear out. its alot of labour but they need to be replaced they are about 10 dollars from dodge for a kit but u need to drop the tranny to do it. do it soon and change the oil with 5w-30 if it if an a555 replace the filter and the spacers. do it soon or u will loose gears and it is not fun. make sure where ever u take it that they dony screw u and try tor rebuild ur tranny u dont need it its ten dollars of parts and ur good for anouther 200 000ks
