HI, I have a 1989 Lebaron GTC TII and I have to pull the motor and trans. Is it better to pull it from the bottom or through the top?
Thanks
Ken

I usually pull mine out through the top. That way you dont have to pull the K-frame. You want to use an engine leveler though.

So it will fit through the top with the trans attached? I have the car on the lift now and it looked clear to come out the bottom.
Thanks for all your help
Ken

ok....... first off a leveler is a must if pulling from the top. 20 $ from pep boys.
it is really easy to drop from the bottom if your on a lift. just put something underneath it like a 4 wheel dolly or something. it really helps to remove the k frame but it is not a must. just makes it a little eisier.
removeing the k fram is easy. remove the 4 bolts and the 6 top strut mounts(or the 4 bottom strut mounts). (wheels of course) and the bolt through the steering coupler.

out the top its easy. hook the hoist up, put the wieght on the hoist and remove all the mounts. then disconnect everything. one note is make the leveler really high on the tranny side. then as you lift the motor drop the tranny. when it come out of the car it will be almost vertical.

^Dont attempt this process, stick with Jackson's guide... less likely to screw yourself or something else up

I did not notice a k frame but I did not take a good look. The car is up on the lift right now, so I could drop the motor and trans onto a cart or I can pull it out the top as I have all that is nessary to do that. You must forgive me as I am used to working on old mercury Cougars and they are rear wheel drive. I would like to pull the driveline as I need to do the clutch and maybe the sincrows and as I stated before, the bottem end is gone.
What ever is the best way, I can do it.
Thanks for all your help
Ken
