Code 44 is battery temperature is out of range.With all of the testing and parts replacing you were doing I would disregard this code and correct your fuel pressure problem.Fuel pressure is a Basic and needs to be correct for all systems to function properly.After you correct the fuel pressure problem clear the codes,start the vehicle and recheck for any faults.

Vehicle goes into failure when you disconnect the CTS and runs on a fixed program which sometimes will make the vehicle run better than it does on the non failure program with the problem.
There are basic functions that must be in functioning properly before any other diagnostics can be performed and fuel pressure is one of them.The controller assumes that all basic fuel,ignition and engine mechanical functions are correct to run the engine control systems. Even if this is not the total cause of your stalling problem it needs to be repaired before you can go further.
Without sounding "Corny" here is a medical analogy.If a person has low blood pressure and is bleeding you fix the bleeding and then recheck blood pressure.
In this case your fuel pressure problem is the bleeding.

well here it goes again and i give up! i fd a bad couple wires and also replaced the speed sensor on the tranny and she ran great for about an hr or so. then the idle started to go up and down and she was stalling out on me randomly. and the fuel pressure was staying at 48 psi all the time. i dont know what else it can be. i also tried a computer swap with a friends car and that did not work. my mechanic gave up and said he does not know what else it can be. any takers on the subject or anyone want a car cheep in nc?

I am here as long as you are willing to keep looking.Were any fault codes set this time? When the symptoms occur and the vehicle stalls will it start right up again? Will the problem occur if you just let the vehicle sit and idle?

What I need you to do is take a test light with you and a helper.
When the vehicle stalls and will not restart you need to connect the test light to a good ground (Batt -) and see if there is power at the + side of the coil while cranking.

OK, I reread the entire thread and I would like you to verify a few things.
In the beginning of your thread you said that fuel pressure dropped to 0 when the vehicle stalled and later you said it remained at 48 psi. So just to be sure please verify your test results to this point.
When the vehicle stalls and will not restart ;
1) What was the fuel pressure reading when the vehicle stalled?
2) Was power present at the + side of the coil when cranking when the vehicle stalled and would not restart?
Yes it is possible that bad fuel or additives may damage fuel system componenents but please answer the 2 questions above before I elaborate further or post further diagnostics so I can be sure we are on the same page.
