The majority of electronics act up when they get hot due to excessive resistance in the circuit.
Your problem can be Battery,Cables,Starter,Starter Relay,Clutch Safety Switch, Ignition Switch or Dirty,Corroded,or Loose Connections in any of these circuits.
In order to help diagnois properly I need more info, Does it crank slowly or not at all? If it does not crank at all do you hear any "clicking noise" from under the hood? Do all of the lights dim when you attempt to start?

The first thing I would do is remove and clean the battery terminals and check to be sure the connections at the starter are tight and secure.
I had the same exact problem twice, turn the key and nothing and because the problem was intermittant and I could not duplicate the condition I replaced the starter relay and that was the problem both times.

sure sounds like a nipendeso starter contact problem to me, but what do I know? parts to fix these starters are not available thru any of the chain parts stores nor thru chrysler dealers... they want to you buy a new starter. however Toyota dealers carry the repair parts takes 20 min to fix for less than $10

I did not realize that both threads were yours or that you were in Hawaii.
If you can duplicate the problem and the Relay or cleaning the terminals does not correct the problem I will be happy to lead you thru diagnostics.
Either way let us know how you make out.

don't know the part number. it was several years ago I encountered this deal. I stumbled into it because our local dodge/chrysler dealer also is a toyota dealer. the parts manager is the BEST parts person I have ever encounterd in my 30 years in this business. She (yes she) hooked me up with yota parts. She was even laughing about how chrysler doesn't offer repair parts but toyota does. since then I found a cheaper source (national automotive in Shelbyville IN. I just ordered 5 sets for the cars and 3 for cummins trucks. total bill with shipping was $31 bucks.
