i've found a guy locally selling what's left of his 89 shelby daytona. the body looks pretty shot, but he says it runs ok.
either way i don't care much... my car was running great, until i cracked the head.
would his car (being a shelby), have the nice 2-piece intake manifold? i have the one piece on mine and would love to be able to do some extensive porting

Only 87 Daytona Shelby Z will have the 2 piece intake.

There is no such car as 89 Shelby Daytona.

Let me know if you are going to pick this car up to part out, there are a few things I could use from it. I was debating trying to repair/resell it, but nobody around here can pay more than $1500 for a car, so it makes it tough to turn a dollar. I did scoop a super clean 89 turbo mini though, but I am pretty sure I want to keep it now.

umm, well someone at the factory screwed up, cause an old friend of mine had an 88 back in 91 that he bought from the original owner and it had a 2 piece from the factory. I always believed the 87 & 88 T2 cars came with a 2 piece.. oh yea glhs and csx also had a 2 piece..

I have had 2 88s and neither had a 2 piece - I thought they only came on the numbered cars and the 87s

Maybe a few early 88 t2 daytonas got one, but 89 didn't. But who knows if the engine was swapped out or what, I'd say pop the hood and take a look before you buy.
