Hello I have a problem with my fuel pump I need to replace it The car has a v6 engine in it. Its a 1992 dodge shadow. the car has an 2.5 tbi in it from factory I put a v6 in it and I decide to keep the tbi fuel pump. The problem was the engine has a lack of power and when I run W.O.T the engine start to cut out like it was not enough fuel for it. I put out the fuel tank and fuel pump . After that I found a 1989 2.5 TI caravan fuel pump in my junk pile. I tried to fit the pump into the strainer outch!!nothing is the same could you help me please because a brand new fuel pump for a v6 shadow is 300 $ and if a 2.5 TI fuel pump can handle with a v6 would like to save money. If you have a trick to put an older pump in a newer car let me know. Thanks you

But why my 1989 2.5 TI fuel pump doesn't fit into the fuel tank of a 1992 dodge shadow ? The worse is that my 2.5 TI fuel pump is brand new.

I'm guessing using a fuel pressure gauge is not an option either.

Ok I reinstall the fuel pump in the car checked the fuel pressure and its ok . the pressure is about 50 psi everytime but my engine still feel very soft I am not able to squeal my tire on wets roads and the car is very slow from 60 mph to 75 mph and at 60 mph the engine has almost no power anymore and sometime it start to run very bad like it was stall. I think is a clogged out catalytic converter. What do you think ?
