I know the Mustakes scream today with all the good stuff. And they really hook up hard. As I was drag racing every week in High School in the late 80s and early 90s I remember these cars when they were brand new. Good drivers would hit 14s, most ran 15s. But like the Chevys they left real hard and fell on there face, many had a hard time getting over or even to 90 MPH through the traps. Most ran about 15.20 @ 85 MPH. I know people like to post they ran about 100 MPH and 14.9, complete BS. 100 MPH in an early LX with drag radials can be a 12.9 and deap into the low 13s with stock tires. So the turbo Dodges from a roll always pulled them on top. My 87 SC with a log engine pulled 14.5@95 MPH and pulled brand new HOs like a viper passing a school bus. However that is also in 3rd gear as the Mustang gets 4-5 car lengths off the line lol. Hot Rods LX with slide link suspension and drag radials cuts 1.38s, that is not a typo. Even with the tiny port heads that flow less than a 2.2 8v head they still fly from the launch. My budys 302 79 Gia was always beat up by my 67 Dart. But that doesn't sound fair right? Well the dart had a SLANT 6! O how Mike hated freeway rolls lol. That 2 barrel Super 6 intake really helps LMAO.
My first car? A sweet 65 Mustang, got a photo of me with my white Maimi Vice out fit LMAO. What a pile, great looking car but a turd. My second car was a 72 340 Rally Challenger...
