How many miles to seat rings?

well for what its worth ive replaced rings without breaking the glaze on a few engines, the only ones that seated properly were the ones i used chrome rings on. but either way i always use new rings- kind of a waste of time to take the engine apart etc and just drop some questionable used rings on. besides, rings are cheap anyway.
