I have a 1989 Dodge caravan w/Turbo 2.5 Liter

I have had this can for a couple years now, its become My little racer and I just recently started it up again and started working on it. It will not pass emissions because of the OCs running at like 9.00%

I i have cleaned all filters, Replaced fuel pump, New O2 sensor, Changed fuel Filter. New ECU (didnt change a thing) does it need to be reset some how??)

Mechanics told me to replace the ECU and O2 sensor and clean filters.

Im getting to the point where i dont know what to do anymore.

What else would cause the problem of Idling at a 6:1 Fuel air ratio?

If the Map Sensor is Bypassed can the computer turn it off? ( After market inter cooler and piping Blow off valve ) Never had the problem before then the MAP sensor was Bypassed ( could that be it??)

would the Fuel air regulator be bad/leaking? Fuel rall problems? IDK what else to do PLEASE HELP!

The Map sensor in the AIr intake has been unplugged ever since i had the van and i just recently couldn't get it to pass. it has an after market intake system on it so i just had it unplugged when i bought the van and it never ran like this before.

Can i go into the computer and turn it off? Or is there a way to fake it? I don't have the stock intake system.

I have read a lot about everything i can do. Would the Coolent sensore for open loop mode be a problem also. ( I know when i start the van the fan is on ALL the time weather its cold or hot out side. )

"""""""""""CO too high = Car runs rich, burns too much gas.
Bad carburetor adjustment, float too high, carburetor flooding, sticking secondary throttle, leaking fuel injector, leaking fuel pressure regulator, feedback system malfunction (oxygen sensor, coolant sensor, throttle position sensor), emissions vapor system malfunction (purge valve, canister clogged) Be aware that NOX will RISE after you fix a CO problem. This must be checked after a successful CO repair.

How about the coolant temperature sensor. If it is malfunctioning and telling the computer that the engine is cold, the computer will send more fuel to the engine, staying in open loop condition."""""""

The controller on MPFI Turbo uses MAP, Coolant Temp and Air Charge Temp as the major fuel control inputs. O2 is a fuel trimmer.
High Fuel Pressure will also create a rich condition.
Start at square 1, are any fault codes set, running that rich there will probably be a code 52, check the codes and post back.

I don't have any codes cause i don't seem to have any check engine light at all, I turn the key to ON and it doesn't show i have any check engine light ALL i see is Seat belt and thats only light i see on the gauge panel. This model does have a check engine light right?

I just order a Fuel pressure regulator ( gonna get it in today and reply)

I have unplugged the Coolant and MAP when the van is running and they seem to change a big deal when i unplug them.

the van is to old to have codes read from checker

I heard there was a Key on off on off thing you could do, But doesn that require seeing a check engine light?

Thank you for all the help people REALLY appreciated.

but still having the problem.

PS: when the van goes to idle the Fuel Mixture gauge Doesnt show anything. ( its digital bars ) why would it do that?

Yes, all Chrysler fuel injected vehicles have a power loss/ check engine light.
Air Charge Temp Sensor relays intake air temp info to the controller, used on turbo vehicles, some T-1's did not use it. It would be located in the front of the intake plenum with a 2 wire connector.

just because you do not see a check engine light doesn't mean there isn't a code set-
first make sure your check engine light comes on @ bulb check, and if it doesn't, get a new bulb for it. Then with the key entirely off, turn your key all the way to the "on but not crank" position and, then back 1 stop, then forward one stop, then backward one stop, then forward one stop (do this fairly quickly too, and you might have to try more than once to get it (the check engine lamp should light up and then go out when you do it right)). Have a pad of paper handy, and watch the check engine lamp. The computer will then "flash" any codes that are in the system.

the codes will be 2 digit, made up of sets of flashes. The sets of flashes will be followed by a slight delay. so for an instance, code 55 will be "flash flash flash flash flash" pause "flash flash flash flash flash"
