Tbone thanks for the details on that wideband. I think this exactly what I will be purchasing pretty soon for my suzuki swift. Then if it works really good another one will install in the chrysler. It seems like you would not need to have a switch between two different O2 signals since the computer ignores the O2 when under WOT and higher boost.

Great thread I need to win the lottery so I can try all of the wideband setups.

amcpacer: I know about WOT going into open loop. That's not the issue I'm concerned about. I am concerned about medium to heavy acceleration (not quite WOT). Lean mixtures can be prone to detonation under heavy loads. Maybe I am worring over nothing. My test car (Saturn) has a knock sensor but I am not willing to push it too far. I should just get a scanguage and then I could see if the knock sensor was retarding the timing at all. More money, though.

crusty: I hope you like your JAW. Hopefully it gets to you quickly. I was anxious because it took about 2 weeks for mine to show up. All my other parts showed up in a week or less. I liked soldering up the components on the board. It was kinda fun. Here's a tip, before you solder your ribbon connectors to the board and the display, decide if you want the display to be flush mount or not. If you want it to be flush mount, you need to solder both connectors to the back of each board. Also, if you want the serial connector to be mounted to the side of your hobby box, don't solder it to the board. Run wires from the board to the serial connector. You only need 3 wires for that. I had to desolder a few things once I got my box and realized I wanted things re-arranged. Good luck. I will help you if I can.

I just ordered a JAW yesterday and the $50 02 sensor already arrived. Now I feel anxious for the JAW and connectors from an online VW store to arrive. I have decided this wideband will be going in the chrysler 2.2. For the suzuki I will be cheap and simply make some circuitry using some op-amps and zener diodes that will offset the stock narrowband signal in an attempt at better mileage from the 1.0 3cyl.

I recently got a box built for mine and the wiring done on the connectors. Still need to wire it up to the car. The testing is going well on the bench, but I can't get it to write the NB simulated voltages to the JAW. I am trying to figure that out. Check out my pics.

jaw showed up today, assebled it in about an hour and a half, and thats while on vicodin ( had root canal and 2 teeth pulled today ugh!) unit works good, dont have the O2 sensor hooked up yet, but i powered it up with a battery charger just to see if it came on.
im gonna make a new panel for my message center out of plexi relocate the door ajar and low fuel graphics, and mount the JAW display right above it behind smoke plexi. should look pretty slick when its done, but for now it'll prolly just lay on the seat or somthing like that so i can at least get my fuel adjusted halfway decent. mine looks different than yours Tbone, my board seems like it has a bunch more terminals, inless you mounted your components on the back side. mine has a set of 3 terminals marked datalog. not too much info , i'll have to check the forum over at 14point7.
gonna be interesting getting this thing calibrated etc, i dont have a lap top so i'll be dragging my comp out to the garage. i thought i had a big power inverter floating around but i cant seem to find it. id have to take pics if i end up finding it though, riding around with a full tower , keyboard, and 17 in monitor strapped into the pass seat would get laughs for sure.
oh i got the O2 sensor dirt cheap on ebay, guy on there has a store- ourdealsrock. paid 38.00 for the sensor.

You probably got the same board as I did. There is an new board coming out that's smaller, but I don't think it's out yet. Here is a few more pics. The first one is my assembled board. The second one is my board wired up in the box. Had to move the op amps, 6 pin D Sub connector, and I wired all the sensor and power wires to a 15 pin D sub connector.

The Datalog header is for adding sensors to watch while datalogging. I am monitoring my TPS and MAP sensors. I will add RPM once I figure out which wire to tap into.

I am finally getting things dialed in with my JAW. I have it running the signal to the ECU during idle and low throttle input. Then when I push the throttle to about 30% it switches over to the NB signal. That way I can run lean with the JAW without causing too much heat build up. When I start to load the engine by hitting the gas, the NB kicks in and the AFR richens up. I like how it is working out, and it was simple. I used a microswitch on the top of the throttle plate cable linkage. The movement of the throttle plate closes the switch and changes the signal to the NB sensor. I am running about 16.5 AFR when using the WB sensor.

OK, ive been reading through this and im in the market for one. i dont know if my brain's ready for a JAW, but i think im going with innovative.

question, im going LC1, whats the difference between the DB gauges and the G2, G3.... just what you prefer?

can you datalog with a LC1 innovative? or do i need to get one of those boxes for input stuff (i.e. boost, egt, timing, etc....)

it looks like 289 shipped for a G3 gauge and LC1
and 269 for a DB gauge (digital) and LC1

Yes they're all basically the same gauge driven through one of the programmable outputs of the LC-1.

You can datalog the A/F ratio. I was able to dial in my fuel curve with just this channel though. Just start recording and then stomp on the gas in 3rd gear and hold it till redline/shift point then stop recording. You'll be able to guess go enough through the datalog time to get an idea of where to add or subtract fuel. If you want more inputs you'll have to get at least an SSI4 or one of the other boxes.

Search ebay for a while. You can usually find them a bit cheaper. I just picked up an XD-16/LC-1 setup tonight for $259 shipped. Course it had been somewhat installed but never ran. If there happen to be any problems with it Innovate has awesome technical support and customer service.
