Yeah, I have tried a few map sensors with no luck.

I don't understand why the fuel pump would cause this problem. I have had the fuel pump in the car for 3 years with a 2.2l engine and this never happened.

^check your fuel pressure!
Rig a gauge and stick it under the wiper and go for a drive
The fuel pressure should go up 1-2 psi per #of boost!
That will give you a good reading.

Ok, So I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to it and it reads 55 at idle and 65 with the vacuum line unhooked. I believe this must be the problem since its 10 lbs higher than it should be. I have an adjustable fpr, but its not hooked up since I need the after market fuel rail. I do have one of those on order :-)

I had the exact same problem on my '86 lebaron GTS. The car ran perfectly fine for the most part but if I opened the throttle all the way or close to it the engine would cut out and the power loss light would flash on for a second but that car is long gone i never did fix it but i still have the engine because it only has like 15,000 miles on a rebuild anyway my current car is an '86 lancer that I bought from my neighbor and he claims he had the exact same problem and fixed it by replacing the distributor. I dont know if thats completely true but I think its definately worth a shot.

I say replace the distributor
