Background... The car is a 89 shelby daytona with a 2.5l engine running on 2.2 electronics with +20's. I have the timing set to 8 degrees. The car runs fine other than the amount of fuel that it uses and the engine cutting out when being floored. It seems that when the throttle is open 80%-100% the computer pulls fuel and the engine cuts out. It feels like it is hitting overboost shutdown. This will happen at any boost level..5psi 10psi. There are no engine codes. What do you guys think?

I am not sure what is going on with the fuel pressure because I don't have gauge. The fuel pressure regulator and map sensor are hooked up to a line that is hooked directly up to the intake manifold. The timing is at 8 degrees because it is a 2.5 running on 2.2 electronics and if it is set at 12 It would be too lean. Thanks for your response.

why would you need a custom computer when you can put in a 2.5 computer? It sounds to me that you are have a fuel delivery problem, probably electrical (map or computer). I use to just cut the fuel feed hose and install a 3 way barb for mechanical fuel pressure gauge and plug it when im not using it. You can get a gauge at any parts store pretty cheap.

89 Daytona Shelby 2.2L = TII car originally along with TII electronics and intercooler. If you want to chance it by running a NON-intercooler, NON air-charged sensor 2.5 computer, go for it.

ok well obviously getting a custom computer could fix it and I will get it if you give me $200 to buy one. Unfortunately right now this is what I have. Other people on the board have run the same setup and I am just wondering if they have had this issue and if so how did the fix it. I tried changing the map sensor but it didn't help. I have a spare t2 computer I can through in to see if that makes any difference.

sounds like a fuel delivery problem as well.
Before you mashing the throttle again I would get a fuel pressure gauge.
Are you running an A/F gauge with this set up to make sure your not going lean?
What monitoring gauges do you have?

I do have an A/F gauge hooked up but I don't think it is working properly. It doesn't act like described on Donovan's Dodge Garage Maybe the o2 sensor is bad?? Or possibly a grounding issue with the o2 sensor? Shouldn't the check engine light be on if the o2 sensor is bad? I will try to get a fuel pressure gauge on it to see what happens. Could it be the fpr? I get pretty bad gas mileage 16-17 mpg... about 25-27 highway though. I will probably save up and get a computer from fwd. I do have a walboro 255 lph pump installed.

Ok I have installed a wideband and everything looks fine. I also changed the computer and the fpr with no luck. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

It seems to me that you're simply flooding the engine with fuel when flooring it. Did you pull the plugs and see how they're burning? Does the wideband say you're running real rich or anything at WOT?

I would imagine you are running really rich, a 255 will overload the stock FPR

It runs rich at idle but when cruising it is at 14.5 When I try to floor it, it goes to about 12.5-13 which is normal, then cuts out. When the engine actually is cutting out, it is at like 28. So I would imagine the fuel is being pulled for some reason. It is also really lean when entering boost, but the a/f quickly goes down to about 12.5.
