Car- 1986 SC T-1, died on way home. Fuel pump is not winding up, but there are several loose wires in the engine compartment. Does anyone know the best way to track down where the problems begins. Fuel wiring diagrams?

HOw to run a jumper to the fuel pump and injectors?
Thanks

Are you getting no fuel and no spark or just no fuel? Knock on the bottom of the tank. See if the pump will kick on lol

spark is fine. I tried the tap on gas tank thing. I almost positive it is a wiring issue in the engine compartment.

What do you mean loose wires? the fuel pump harness doesn't run to the engine bay.

The + wire that runs to the coil is the SAME wire that runs to the fuel pump. If you put a test light on that wire at the coil and turn your ignition on, engine off, the test light should illuminate for about a sec and then go out.

If it does, your wiring and ASD relay are good. Replace the pump.

The ASD relay (part of the PM on your car) powers the fuel pump, injectors and + coil.
To check the ASD relay output and power to the pump locate the underhood diagnostic connector and with the key on/engine off ground the DB/YL wire, this will actuate the ASD relay so you can check power output to the pump and at the pump.
As seen in the pic term #6 of the 10 pin connector is the ASD power output so while the ASD is actuated backprobe that terminal with a test light or voltmeter and check for 12 volts, if ok check at the pump connector, if power is ok at the PM but not at the pump there is a wiring issue, if power is present at the pump and the ground is ok replace the pump. If power is not present at the PM then you need to check all of the power inputs to the PM. If power is missing at the PM there also will not be power at the + coil or the DG/BK wire at the injectors.

I know a bunch of people w/o ac that look at the ac connectors and think they have something to do with the fuel pump cause they are right by the fuel lines.
The harness itself runs to a connector by the fuse block. ...and then on from there.
