all the above, my 88 shelby z sat in and out of my garage for 4 years until recently, when I replaced the smoking turbo-since then, I have driven it sparingly, changed oil, antifreeze, plugs, dist cap, rotor, wires, checked all vacuum lines, when it sat I did add stabil (sp?) a gas additive to the tank, and I did fill it with 93 octane shortly after I got it back together.
Changed power steering fluid to Lucus with stop leak, it cured the whine it always had-I also drained and refilled the brake fluid with full synthetic, checked pads and rotors, greased balljoints and any other fittings I could find.
Fuel filter just done, injectors were removed and cleaned, the o-rings were replaced, tires were balanced and rotated (they are better now than when I first started driving it, flat spots from sitting, but I won't be doing over 70mph in hot weather, the rubber on older tires does not handle stress well)-
I put in a new battery (Optima yellow top) and just did a starter and starter relay, because it was due after 20 years. Ac was recharged (changed over from R12 to 134a at least 10 years ago, but vacuumed it out, new oil and new 134, nice and cold now at 40 degrees at vent)-I am getting to the point where I feel like I could depend on it for a daily driver, and have taken trips of 50 to 120 miles with no problems-start out slow, fix what is suspicious, all fluids done=I have had this car for over 20 years, and it is not a daily driver, but I will get it to the point where if I need it to be one, it can do it-just don't go too hard in the beginning. Let us know how it is going, and good luck-thanks for saving it, too.
