Hello all,
I'm in mid project trying to change an exhaust manifold gasket only to find that the studs that hold the turbo on are all stripped causing an exhaust leak. Of course all the studs snapped off upon removal so I need another. If ANYONE in the hancock county ohio area has a manifold laying around that they can spare I'll come get it. I really need my car for monday if at all possible. Call me if you have one.

Hopefully you can find a manifold local to you. If not replacing the studs will get you back on the road. If any part of the studs are still there (long enough to get vice grips onto), you might get lucky and be able to remove the studs. It will require a handheld torch, MAPP gas is hotter. Heat the area around the stud cherry red and then clamp the vice-grips on tightly to remove. If the studs broke off flush, it will require drilling and extracting.

left handed drill bits work pretty good too,they will drill out the stud & back them out when they bite

+1 on using a torch for heat. I use a small Oxy/MAPP setup as a matter of course when it comes to exhaust fasteners. Makes them come apart like they're buttered

if nothing i have one here with a mild cleanup and port that has good studs ready to go if you wanted to buy it

well... not what i was hoping for but i found a guy that has a machine shop and he's going to take them out for me. I was hoping i could get ahold of a guy named matt that lives in Van buren. I bought a head from him as he was getting out of the TD scene. Thanks for the responses I'll post the results good or bad tomorrow.

Mapp torch should be in any rodders garage-just have a fire extinguisher handy (trust me). ditto on the butter
