i Recently purchased a shelby z for next to nothing, the car was a total basket case. It came with new long block, clutch and pressure, plate stage 2 ecm, 804 injectors,etc.... But no gaskets so i researche found that the block was a common block, so i purchased gaskets for a common block. The problem is my intake is leaking. The question is is there a diff between 87 t II gaskets and 88 and 89 gaskets(parts catalog shows common gasket for 88&89 but special 513-x gasket for 87 intercooled) IS THE 87 TWO PIECE INTAKE UNIQUE.

The 87 2 piece intake gasket uses two gaskets. One gasket for upper intake manifold to lower intake manifold. This gasket is unique to only 87 Daytona Shelby and some Shelby cars like 86 GLHS, 87 GLHS, and so on. Second gasket is for the lower intake manifold to the cylinder head, it is the same for all 2.2/2.5 dodge.

You can get the complete gasket set at your local part
Fel Pro MS90947 will have both gaskets or
Niehoff Ignition Plenum Gasket 50016 just the upper intake manifold to lower intake manifold gasket.

I was referring to the lower gaskets. The car idles about 1800 rpm and takes off when propane is introduced to the top of the lower intake to the head. I was told by the local parts store and dodge dealer that there are two gaskets for the 87 turbo II but not for 88 or 89. So what i am wondering is if there is difference in the lower intakes.

I believe the intake-to-head gasket is the same for all SOHC engines. Possibly a kinked gasket, a cracked intake, a hose cracked or off, or leaking injector seals.

You guys were right all lower gaskets are the same, the differance was in the kit. So I decided to replace all intake gaskets since I have eliminated all vac. lines and the AIS. I ordered mopar gaskets and they arrived opened missing the plenum gasket and they can't get another set in until next week. So I replaced the lower made a plenum gasket out of a sheet of gasket material and reassembled. The damn car is still racing at an idle is there anything else that can cause this. Also retarding the timing only gets me down to about 1500 rpm.
