Omni with a t2 Running 18 psi
Recently purchased, supposedly about 10,000 miles on the setup

-Burning about a quart of oil every 200 miles
-Does not burn any on start-up or for the first 4-5 min
-when car warms up she puffs blue.
-Compression tests show 160/155/155/160
-Number 3 Spark plug is oil fouled Also the top of the piston looks wet.
-PCV valve seems to be working I think(It sucks air in, and rattles when shaken)
-I tried a leak down test, not sure if I did it right. I heard air leaking out but couldn't tell where it was going
-last night on the freeway doing about 60 miles gave it a bit in 5th gear, she stumbles and surges from then on it felt like she was running on 3 cyl. Checked the plug this morning very fouled.

I pretty sure that it is either a valve seal or oil ring
My question is before I tear it apart.
I read on here somewhere that someone was running very rich and had an oil problem as well, they fixed the rich mixture and the oil problem went away

My car seems to be running pretty rich
Is it possible that all the extra gas is some how cleaning the oil of the valves and making them stick?
So if I fix the rich situation the car might be ok?

Other thing is I bought a Wideband A/f to fix this, but the instructions say that in access amounts of oil will shorten the life of the sensor?

What should I do?
Thanks in advance

1 qt every 200 miles with blue smoke, that is severe.
Since you have access to air remove the valve cover remove the rocker arms on # 3 cylinder, put air in the cylinder and remove the valve springs and take a good look at those valve seals.
Oil rings will not affect compression.

I do not know how to post pics
I have some on the cardomain website
As for the hook-up I'm not sure. The PCV gets rid of the pressure?
You can just see it in the pic, but not visible it's hooked up the a cone filter .
Thanks again

If it was a turbo seal problem,it would smoke white, and as soon as you started the engine. After it warms up maybe valve guides along with valve seals.

Just because i want to know more about this
Why is there oil in the Air filter side of the turbo?
Is it a seal that's leaking?
Any and all info related would be much appreciated
Thanks

It's called BLOW BY.The best way to get the turbo off is to take the head off.If you're not sure about the valve seals or guides, take it to you nearest machine shop.Prob not the turbo's fault!

I agree, if the problem was PCV or Turbo related it would probably affect all 4 cylinders not just #3 cylinder.

OK so what should I do now. either way the head is comming off, so I guess well take it apart and see what we get.
I reached into the turbo, Air filter side, and I grabbed what I thought was the middle part (fans) it seems to have some play in it. So I guess that means turbo.

Maybe I also have a valve problem, it just that the other spark plugs can burn off the oil completly while this one is getting to much, Turbo and valves?

Thanks again for all the help

Fool proof method? Rebuild the engine and rebuild the turbo.

But if only your third cylinder is getting oil, your piston or rings in the 3rd cylinder are gone, most likely.

It's completely normal to have shaft play in the turbo. Though, I have a near NOS condition turbo if you're considering upgrade/new one
Near NOS condition, 89 TII Garrett with 2.5 inch swing and big wastegate actuator

There is only one place oil can come into the inlet of the turbo, that's the PCV system. Factory PCV system is known to let oil into your intake system very easily.

How about you run a compression test on the car for kicks before you decide to tear it down.
That will forsure narrow down that cylinder 3 has ring issues.
Also it will gauge where the rest of the motor is at as well.
Rebuilding the turbo, head, and motor sounds like a total solution to your problem.
