I called Cindy. I'm going to send back my computer and get an updated chip. Mine may be about 5 years old. I'll use my super 60 in the mean time.

I'm using a billet aluminum fuel rail from FM. The aluminum must be 10 times thicker than stock. I would think it's a pretty good heat sink to keep the fuel cooler than a stock rail.

Interesting about the 10% ethanol in gas now. My wife's Mini (05) had to have the ECU reflashed cause it would stall in the morning on the first try. My camaro (02) never had a problem. (sorry to say, nothing starts as nice as a chevy, that starter will last forever, kinda pisses me off)

BTW I'm not getting any gurgling from the tank, and my car doesn't have to be too hot to have the problem.

You sure you have to send the whole computer back? Most of hers are socketed from what I know, but yours could be an exception....

This thread needs an update!

I recieved my new cal chip the other day. I installed it today.

So far, so good. The car DEFINATLY starts MUCH easier. Even dead cold. It seems that it has some differences in the fuel trim, so I had to turn the fuel pressure up a bit to be safe(the first time I went in to boost it read 16.6 on the WB . Glad I had the alky and was only running 8psi!!). After I got the low boost reading a bit better, I moved to high boost. It's a bit rich there for me, reading about 11.1, but that is only 2nd gear(no alky). I've got to do a bit more tuning to it.

All in all, so far it seems the hot-start issue is resolved! YAY!!! I still have to test it a bit more, but from what I've already experienced, IF it does act up it shouldn't be nearly as bad as it was.

11.1 on high boost is perfectly fine. I wouldn't worry too much about.

That's great news. I called Cindy and I am going to hang on to my smec until my track events are done, then send it in.

Have you tried letting the smec control the boost yet?

No, it would only hold 18psi if I did. I run 20-22psi normally on my "hi" setting.

I understand that 11.1 is fine as it is safe. For now I'm going to leave it alone. I want to get it on a dyno to see what kind of gains are really to be had by messing with the fuel. I'm willing to bet it isn't as much as I origionally thought.

I will say the car seems to pull harder with this cal than it did with the old one. It may be a plecebo effect though. I still haven't been able to run it up the gears. I can only get partway through 3rd until I'm going WAY over the limit. I gotta either get on the highway really late at night, or find a nice deserted road...until I can get to a dyno.

Anyways...it's working and that's the important part! It DEFINATLY starts better!!
