I just wanted some opinions on the best manual to purchase for working on these cars, i have a chiltons and a haynes manual, but that are both for various makes models and years of dodge FWD cars. Are there any for just a specific year, could i get some sort of manual just for a 1988 dodge daytona shelby z TII? or does anyone the best manual i could get for this car? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Also, has anyone bought a chilton CD? are those any better than their paper manuals?

neither is all that great. the BEST manual is a factory service manual FSM. that's the only way to go.

I agree. If you're looking for in depth information about a car that you're serious on wrenching on, there's no substitute for the same manual the dealership technicians used.

Factory service manuals AND I subscribe to alldatadiy.com. They have complete tech notes, recalls, as well as estimated costs and times to replace/repair stuff. Pretty good help if Alldata says it should take 3 hours labor and your local wrench says 8 hours.

The only thing that Hayne's and Chilton's are good for is starting fires.

Not entirely true. I use them for propping unstable table legs and such.

Actually, the Haynes and Chilton's manuals are fine for basic maintenance items. But that's about it. If you're going to spend the money, might as well get the FSMs on eBay or something.
