So I replaced my tranny, car is a 85 New Yorker 2.2 Turbo automatic. On the bad tranny I pulled out of the car there is a green ground wire bolted to the top center of the tranny that came disconnected from the harness and I cant figure out where is goes back into it. Does anyone know or have any pictures of where it goes??

sounds like the trans "ground wire"

poking around the harness just above that spot should find you the other end of that ; other wise u could fab another wire trans <=> body or ignore it in TD fashion

That could be. I am currently out of town until Thursday for work so I wont be able to check until then. Well heres the problem my buddy thinks it goes to what would be a neutral safety switch on a manual (not sure what its called on a automatic) but my car will randomly not start like it has a dead batterie but the batterie has 13+ volts and is new then I put it in neutral and it starts...

But I will put a picture up once I get back into town of the wire on the old trannie.

Thanks a bunch guys any advice helps.

The older 3 speed automatic has a three wire switch assy. Neutral safety / power / reverse. The older manual trans has a 2 wire for the reverse light switch only.

If you have to move the gear selector to neutral to start the engine, you probably have the shifter cable mis-adjusted, and are not fully engaging the "Park" position. The neutral safety switch uses the same wires for "park" or "neutral".
