Alright, i have a 87 csx dodge shelby.
89 common block
782 head
wisco pistons
mp arp headstuds
255 fuel pump
3 bar map
plus 40's
(Accufab)fuel pressure regulator 50 psi
stage 5 computer fwd

The problem is i keep blowing head gaskets out and dunno why. My heads straight and my blocks straight. i only run 10 psi, but when it hits 10 psi it pushes my head gasket out. compressions at 150 across. My afr are at wot 10.58 and its on the rich side. One mistake was a felpro gasket, made it 5 miles. blew a head gasket out of 3 of the 4 cylinders. Cheap ****.

Has anyone has any ideas why this may be happening

Thank You,

How much torque you putting on them? Is your torque wrench reading high? My old needle torque wrench would read 90 ft pounds, my new clicker would read 70.

felpro gasket i used new torque to yield bolts. 45 65 65 quarter turn. It was a snap-on torque wench. Plus i had a diesel mechanic help me out.

But did you...

Let the engine idle to operational temps and cool down(over night preferred) and then recheck your torque?

Gasket sealer, use any?

My CSX had a Fel-Pro in it, psi maxxed out the stock gauge(15psi). Pulled it off for a Cometic, still was perfect(expect having copper spray all over it).

was looking at lowboosts car tonight, hes using a 006 gasket, the gasket blew out at the waterjacket, deck and head seem to be straight, im wondering if the pin is holding the head up, anyone ever heard of this happening, also should he be using a 005 or an 006 gasket???? and is 150 psi of compression causing gaskets to go out? thanks in advance.

Felpro has changed they're gaskets and they work very well now, you probobly either have interference with somthing or the threads in the block are messed up and need to be cleaned by running a tap through them.

Torque wrenches go bad no matter what brand they are, I can just picture some kid breaking lug nuts loose and then bam its junk

He should use the 2006 headgasket. +1 on running a tap through the threads. Clean the gasket surfaces completely and inspect for cracks. Torque head in sequence and you should be fine. I have taken felpro head gaskets over 20 psi without issue. You definitely should have no problems with the 2006 head gasket if it is installed correctly.

Ok thanks, i just noticed while we were looking at it, it seems to be pushing out in the same spot most of the time, the flame ring keeps pushing out into the water jacket on the passenger cylinder. will try the tap to clean the threads.

it could be that the head is shaved and now the head is being held up by the passenger motor bracket cutting into it. Check right bellow the cam gear.

I used a mopar performance head gasket and with that torque sequence and as soon as I fired it up I was blowing coolent into the cylinders.

So I retorqued to 85 than 95 and have no problems even pushing 15 psi now.

I think your torque wrench was reading a little bit high.

I wouldn't reccomend a cometic gasket in your situation but anyways you will have to follow the torque specs for the arp studs you are using.
