This car has the 3.5 and starts and idles just fine. Once you try to move the throttle any further it just bucks and i mean bad like whiplash bad. After slow and i mean like 30 secs of slowly moving up the rpm scale it will run perfect and throw you back in your seat. Once at cruising speeds 60 and 70 mph the car will run alright unless varying rpm which is like every 5 secs it bucks bad. Never changes with the car warm or anything same as a cold start on a 10 degree day. Any clues. There is a service record in teh glove box that says cam and crank out of sync suspect bad flywheel? How would this just go bad one day? Rust? Bent somehow? Any clues? Thanks.

I am going to pull those this weekend via key cycle. I do not know if this car is obdII or not. If so I have a cheesy scanner I can use. Depends when in 85 it was made maybe I will get lucky.

'85? You mean '95? Regardless of controller spec, you'll probably get about the same info from a "cheesy" scanner as you would the key codes.

Is the CEL on? Pull the codes and see what the computer is doing. Bucking that bad should be throwing some kind of warning flag. Could definitely be a timing issue. But it could also be a number of other things. Won't know without further diagnostic.

No check engine light on. The other really weird thing that happens is whenever it bucks real bad going down the highway the cruise light on the dash flashes on. And Yes, I meant 95, the only reason I like using my scanner is because I get sick of counting the flashes of the check engine light. My buddy might have a drbII and I know for sure he has a drbIII at his house. If I cant figure this out I may end up going over there with the car for some real live data.

The cruise light flashes? That's odd. Definately hook it up to a scanner then if you can. I'd be suspicious of the ECM.

No codes.... The car is OBDI. I have not had any real time to dedicate to this car yet. Just finished putting head gaskets in my 3.3 intrepid. One was leaking coolant out the back of the head...
