I recently started driving my Daytona daily and today, after I thought I'd worked the kinks out, I decided to see what it would do. I went down a lonely road and accelerated hard. As soon as the turbo hit 12 PSI (according to the boost gauge) the engine cut out for a split second and started up again. I tried it again and it did the same thing. If I keep it below 12 pounds of boost it's fine, driving, idling, everything, but as soon as I hit that it cuts out.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps the gauge is wrong and you're hitting 15lbs and it sets off the overboost, unless you have a bleed on the map or a zener diode. Are you running a bleed or anything for the boost or just the stock computer?

The car is totally stock. Nothing has been done to it except a high flow converter installed by the previous owner.

I'm assuming you're using the stock boost gauge which could very likely be off, I'd try an aftermarket one and make sure you're getting less than 14lbs, i think the cut out on auto shelby z's is just barely over 14lbs. If the new gauge says you're hitting overboost(which by the way is pretty harsh when it kicks in) then it's time to go through the vacuum lines to the wastegate or perhaps even the solenoid looking for leaks or problems as to why it's overboosting. good luck

Check and see if it set a fault code for overboost.

Yep, I checked the codes, it's a code 45. I guess it's over-boosting. The car is a manual not an automatic though. So what should I look for?

I can't check those vacuum lines tonight, but I'll do it tomorrow and report back. I guess I'll have to stay out of the gas for a little longer.

Thanks for your help so far.

Thanks for the help!

It turned out there was a crack in the vacuum line. I replaced it and it works great now! Man this thing can move! It definitely doesn't feel like a four cylinder when it's at 12 PSI!

Vacuum lines create all types of nightmares on these cars and the cracks/leaks are not always obvious.
Glad the problem is fixed and you are enjoying the ride.
