I swapped my thermostat cause the old one was stuck. But stupid me didnt get a new seal. The result was bad leakage around the housing. I dont seem to be able to find a part number (maybe language barrier i dont know). The remainder of the seal looks more like some kind of paste. Right now i macgyvered something and its leaking just a bit so i think im able to make my 140 mile drive but... thats not going to hold forever.
So if someone could hook me up with a part number or the appropiate goo to use would be great.

Car is 1992 2.5t1 daytona (the last revision without the flipping headlights)

Thanks

Matt

You can either get the gasket or just use a bead of Permatex on it.

it's a VERY common gasket ; should be no problem finding one

I prefer to use the gasket with a thin layer of 'silicone blue' or permatex on each side, but its also possible to run with no gasket...

if U want to do that, I would make sure both surfaces are VERY clean, and flat; then put a medium thick layer of permatex on each surface ; let it "skin" for 10 minutes before assembling

RESIST the urge to overtighten the bolts or you will squeeze all the sealant out

Thermostat gasket is the same for all 2.2/2.5L engines.
Fel-Pro makes the gasket with the silicone built in.
Be sure both sides are clean of all material and be sure the thermostat does not slide down out of the housing when installing, I usually use 3m weatherstrip adhesive to hold the t-stat in place in the housing.

I just use RTV. Or TU's or FWD's Billet Tstat housing with an O-ring.
