Unhappy broken halfshaft and overboost questions

Saturday night I was showing off the laser to some of my old Mustang buddies, who by the way where somewhat impressed with how quick an old fwd chrysler could be, they even wanted to set up a race with an eclipse GST for me.

Then everything went wrong, first I tried adding a little more boost from the g-valve and at 12psi it felt like I was hitting overboost. I thought that wasn't suppsed to happen untilll 14psi, could my guage be off or do 84 models have a lower boost cut?

So I took it back down to 10psi and it drove fine again untill speedshifting the 525 on the 1-2 shift I broke the right halfshaft in two I guess I'm gonna have to remove all sorts of stuff replace it, bobble strut, diff cover, and the knuckle has to come off right? so I'll have to diconnect the strut, brakes, tie rods, etc. right?

Any insight or advice about my cut-out problem or the halfshaft is appreciated. Also are there any mods that would be easy to do while I've got the car apart? Thanks

I just visited minimopar.com and found out overboost is a measly 11psi on 84's

Anyone got any comments on that halfshaft though? are there any heavy duty ones I can replace it with?

do you just mean you broke an axle or the intermediate shaft? axles are very simple to change out in our cars and are pretty cheap. halfshafts arent hard to change out either.

Why not just swap it too a 520 from a 87+ 5spd car, turbo or non turbo it doesn't really matter OR, if you feel like a "Bit" more work swap in a 523 from a 90 5spd car (90 only because of the small spline input shaft) and get the cables and shifter swaped in as well and solve your problem that way, either way will require you too get new axles though as the pre 87 cars had small spline axles
