look right under neath the dist. and a touch toward the driver side, there will be a 13mm bolt, which is holding the dist down, via a peice of metal, once you see it you'll understand. don't loosen it all the way though, just a smidge. you still want the dist. tight just loose enough to be able to twist

already done. set to 13ish degrees. pulls much harder but i know my cam timing is still off a bit. thanks for the help guys. but i have another problem now. when i first intially started it up after i did the timing it blew some black type soot out when i reved it high, i guess it was kinda watery.. then when i took it out it blew some smoke over 10psi... same looking smoke.. but i did beat the crap outta the cat with a hammer the other day hoping to move some of the crap outta the filters in there (proley didnt work) could that cause it... i just happened to look in the rear veiw when i got on it. any ideas?

Sooo when you rev it up and blow 10 psi out of the turbo, after you beat your cat with a hammer, stuff is coming out of your exhaust pipe?

LOL

damon

PS - I cut the end of my pinky finger off with a pair of scissors, and now when I squeeze it, it bleads a little...

LOL...j/k...

I don't want to be harsh or anything, but why didn't you check the cam timing first? Espeically if you suspected it's off. Now tomorrow when you go to check cam timing, your going to end up re-doing the timing at the distributer too because once you correct your belt and cam, it'll throw the timing off again.

About the smoke, I wouldn't worry about that yet. After checking the timing with the temp sensor unplugged our cars tend to run rich and sometimes need some help starting. Could be just some left overs carbon deposits from you driving around with the timing off. If it continues to smoke when you roll into it, check the O2 sensor.

i didnt check the cam timing yesterday because i need the car today. checking the ignition timing isnt hard so i dont care if i have to check it again. its not like i have to take the whole air box off to see the window, i just have my cold air intake on.

well, cam timing was DEAD ON! but now that i have the ignition timing set right it still seems to still lack power. take off is where it shines... but then its like nothin after take off.... im lost now. any ideas? its timed at 13degrees, new plugs, new cap and rotor, cleaned tb, ran some fuel injector cleaner not too long ago, 93 octane gas. however it does run a little lean, and the a/f gauge doesnt seem to read right, maybe the o2 sensor? i used copper wires bad idea? its not the ground... its grounded right to the battery and the sensor wire is hooked up right. while idling or letting off the gas it will drop down and no bars will light for a few seconds, they dont come back up as fast as it use too. the plugs do indicate that it may be running a little lean. no fault codes showing up. only thing that i can think of that hasnt been replaced recently is the plug wires. i guess i can go get a set tommorow. any ideas? thanks guys
