Unhappy Engine Knock Problems, Need Assistance

My 86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z 2.2, with 86M original miles, has a knock in the lower end. The head gasket is being replaced. Strange though, the knock starts only if I run the RPM's up "quickly" at about 2000 rpms. If I run the RPM's up "slowly" to even 3,500 RPM's, NO knock?? Could this be coolant water hydro-venting into the cylinder head, due to the blown head gasket, as there is no water in the oil or on the dip-stick? However... water is slightly seeping out of the base socket of #2 spark plug. Anyone had this problem occur?? I appreciate your assistance.

'86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z 2.2
Upper End Modifications In works...

Conversion from T1 to T2 Specs
Ported Intake & Exhaust
Garrett Pro-Built 460cfm flow Turbo
Ported Hybird
Mopar 2.5 Head, Cross-Drilled, Back Cut Valves, Mopar Cam
Indy Hi-Flo Intercooler & Radiator
Probable 3" Exhausts (Turbo Back)....Scheduled Later.
Running No Muffler, Trying Pipes from the front of the Cat Convert. back.

sorry no advice on the just a few comments on your mod list.

Garrett Pro-Built 460cfm flow Turbo
- what turbo is this?

-Ported Hybird
????

-Indy Hi-Flo Intercooler
unless you already have one in your posession don't buy one, get a nice front mount one, way more power gains.

and don't worry about porting the intake, there's not really any performance gains to be had, it's all on the exhaust side with these engines.

My apologies, Ryan! It appears like typing needs some updating. Sorry about the confusion. The Garrett Turbo was built to air-flow 460 cfm's, for better performance. I don't recall what the meaning cfm was, at present. Sometimes brain-farts are quite common! The Hybrid, I "incorrectly" mentioned is the "Swing-Valve" on the Turbo. I had it opened, and removed the hump inside for better air flow. The T2 Intake is already ported. The Indy Intercooler and Radiator are already purchased, and setting new-in the box in my garage. It should provide much better block cooling, and less chance of popping another head gasket. Yep, I'm new at this. This is my first Turbo attempt. Once I get it built, I'll probably drive it for awhile, and sell,... then start another Turbo project. I have corrected my post below, "I believe"? Thanks for the corrections!

Scheduled later....Probable 3" Exhausts No Muffler with Pipes starting from the front of the Cat Convert,.... back to the tail.

I'm in the Royal Oak Area. BTW, for interested parties, once I get all the T1 items off my Turbo Z, and convert it to T2, all the T1 parts will be sold, in a complete package, including a new T1 Radiator still in the box. All original parts are in excellent working order, including the turbo.

This sounds stupid, but true. I had a knock that I would have sworn was a rod knock. Turned out to be the power steering pump. If the head gasket doesn't do it , try pulling the belt. You never know.

yeah now that I think about it I had a knock I thought was a rod or wrist pin, turned out to be my water pump. it's especally deciving because that is bolted right up to the lower block area around the crank height.

btw: I have family in Berkley and I go to there and Ferndale about once a month. All of us Detroiters should get together sometime.

Well.....I just checked the water pump and it is slightly leaking. Maybe thats the problem? Bearing is probably shot! WOW! It sure pays to ask questions on this site. BTW I actually live in Ferndale, which is close to Royal Oak. Seems nobody ever hears of Ferndale, but knows Royal Oak. Go Figure! I'll take your experienced advice, if the water pump doesn't do it, I'll pull the power steering belt, to check & and see if that is the problem. Everything on this vehicle is original equipment, that I can see.
