Question Why won't the fan turn off?

Alright, I got to work this morning after making a couple of stops (shutting the car off and restarting it about an hour later...) and when I walked away from the car, the radiator fan was running. Ok, no big deal, it must've been hot.

I come out to go to lunch about two hours later and the fan's still running...wtf?

Anyone know why the fan would come on and stay on? I didn't have any problems with it until I got to work...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had my battery go dead for this reason. The fan relay sticks on. Tap it with a screwdriver or something and it should shut off. Then replace the relay, about $10?

Where is this relay located?

I don't have a manual, so if I could get a point in the general direction of this relay, I'll go give it a whack.

Thanks.

Usually on the forward side of the wheel well, driver side, under the hood, just in front of the strut tower. There are about three of these relays, should be one of them.

When you go to get a new one, make sure to take the old one with you. When I bought mine, they tried to sell me the wrong one, the pins were different.

replacing relay is the best option. My car also had this problem, I was able to deal with it short term, by letting the fan run for about 5-10 minutes. (fan comes on due to temps)

Then I would restart the car, and then shut if off.. Found that the fan then would stop.
