How do i separate the axle from the cv joint?

Just like the title says, how do i separate the axle from the CV joint. I'm trying to replace the boot and i have everything else off, just need to take off CV joint so i can put the new boot on. Thanks alot for your time,

if it is the outer one just take a piece of wood and a hammer to where the big part of the boot connects on and hit it with the hammer it will come off you might want to use a small sledge hammer not to hard to do good luck.
