I'm trying to time my 89 Daytona but have two different timing marks on the flywheel. One appears to bring the #1 cylinder all the way up and the other looks as if the #1 cylinder is all the way down in position. Why is there two marks on the flywheel? it is making for a difficult timing belt replacement.

sorry yur first post is a HELP, but

Welcome to TD.com !!

IDK why Chrysler has 2 marks on the flywheel, 180 degrees apart, but:
you will need to verify *which* corresponds to the cylinder #1 TDC,
and use that one to do yur ignition timing !

yu can mark it with a bit of white spray paint ...

Welcome To TD.
The mark that is visable with #1 piston @ TDC is the one you want.
Since you are replacing the timing belt you will also be able to verify this with the mark alignment on the crankshaft sprocket.

+1 on that. you need to actually get the underive pulley and time it like that so no mistakes on cam timing. And one other thing is that when you get the internal torx bolts off replace them with a regular hex bolt. The torx tend to round off and then your stuck drilling them out. I have had to do this countless times. And oh yea WELCOME TO THE FORUM. If you have any questions regarding the forum feel free to PM me or the staff.

usually on the 2 different marks on the flywheel. I have found that the line with a dot is TDC #1 all the up and the mark with just the line is 180 degrees off

this is what i have found as well, should be a line with a hole in it, that is the one you want to use to time the engine.

and I also take some white nail polish and put it in the timing mark. It makes it easier to see.
