Is it hard to convert a 2.5 T1 into a T2?

It seems that T2 is the way to go, the way everyone talks around here. Now, is it difficult, if even possible? and how much $$ am I looking at.

another question: Would a 2.2 T2 fit perfectly into my car without any frame or body modifications? 89 shadow coupe.

Auto trans or manual? The simplest way to go about it is to bolt in a rad/intercooler assebly from a TII car and plumb in the intercooler hoses. Done. If you have an auto you'll need a transmission cooler, however. I think a radiator from a 87 Shelby Lancer or a maserati TC would have trans cooler fittings on it....

I have a manual. So what are the obvious good sides to having a T2? Or is T2 just an intercooled T1?

Find a 87 or 89 CSX Radiator/IC combo and intercooler hoses. Drop that in with the BOV of your choice. Easy intercooling.

u have a mitsu turbo unit u need to swap it for the TII (To3) Garrett unit... much bigger turbo... and also the intercooler/rad assy.. ur electronics are diff than that of a 2.2L car so u cannot drop a 2.2 motor in... pull the head find a garrett unit and swap it and then intercool..

I have a 91 shadow that was a t1. I found a 88 shelby daytona w/a t2 complete w intercooler and all. Intercooler was a drop in, just had to fab up a couple of brackets to hold it in{picked up 6 tenths in the 1/8 mile}. Then a used the head, intake, exhuast and turbo from the daytona. Car runs 8.80s in the 1/8 with stock parts including automatic trans with 100,000 on it. Love going to the track and beatin up on the majority of street cars that are out there{plenty of imports}LOL. Good luck!

Tougher than you may think, 89 VNT rads are d@mn near impossible to find, and 87's are hard too. I'd just recommend sticking with your larger TI radiator, and wedging a front mount in there somewhere (conquest coolers are cheap)

So a 2.2 head will fit on a 2.5 block?

Will it need to be modified in any way?
